Research Sources: 2. The Poster is a comprehensive research database on the Poster. It contains:
- 1. A 5,000 entry downloadable bibliographical and online survey which documents the development of the Poster as a medium for communication, propaganda and artistic expression from the early 19th century to the present day. The entries are arranged by subject and by country and region, and is fully searchable.
- 2. The full text of virtually every book, exhibition catalogue and journal on the Poster published between the 1890s and the early 1920s. Biographical information has been compiled on all the artists and designers whose work is discussed or illustrated in these publications. This has been added to the AHR net database Arts + Architecture ProFiles which now contains nearly 45,000 entries, including biographical data on over 3,000 poster designers.
- 3. An International Directory of Poster Collections. This is the first such online directory to be compiled. It can be searched by country and subject.
