• International Archive of Women in Architecture. Biographical Database

The aim of the database is to document women’s involvement in architecture and landscape architecture. Professionals working in related areas including interior design, industrial design and urban planning are also included. The IAWA was established in 1985 and is a joint project of the College of Architecture and Urban Studies and the University Libraries at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech).

Compiled by the Architekturzentrum Wien, the Austrian Museum of Architecture in Vienna, and established in June 2008, the Architektenlexikon Wien 1880-1945 is a detailed biographical dictionary of approximately 700 architects who worked in Vienna during the years 1880-1945. An invaluable source of information on Viennese architects active during this period. The project is funded by the FWF - Fonds zur Förderung der wissenschaftlichen Forschung. Text in German. The site is dedicated to the preservation of movie houses worldwide and currently [2010] contains details of nearly 28,6000 cinemas, (e.g. 22,197 in the USA, 3,108 in the UK, 803 in Canada, etc.), with nearly 1,600 photographs. The site can be searched by architect, chain, firm, and location. Whilst the site does not contain biographical information on the architects it is useful for tracing buildings they designed.

The Philadelphia Architects and Buildings Project (PAB) is compiled by The Athenæum of Philadelphia, the University of Pennsylvania Architectural Archives, the Philadelphia Historical Commission, and other local culptural institutions. It includes biographies or biographical sketches of more than 2,500 architects together with project information for over 8,000 additional architects, engineers and contractors; architectural and historical information and images for over 35,000 structures in the Philadelphia area. You now have to register to access this database, however, access is free.
